The Game or Her? January 25, 2010

So the NBA All-Star Game actually falls on Valentine’s Day this year…uh-oh.  What do you do?  Dinner and all the romance or the game and one mad significant other?  This subject makes me chuckle…a lot!  Shall I elaborate?

You want to watch the game, huh?

I have never really been a big fan of Valentine’s Day because of the excessive money that is totally wasted buying flowers and chocolates and ish you won’t remember next month anyway.  So I know some of y’all out there are like she ain’t got no man and she’s totally bitter…that’s why she doesn’t celebrate it!  Negative.  My longest relationship was 5 years and we didn’t partake in the foolishness.  A card…yes.  Dinner…maybe.  But if you feel like you have to show your love for someone on that ONE day out of the year then please reexamine your life.  I’ll take lilies (not roses) in May…a beach trip in June…quiet weekends at home any day over Cupid’s Day.

I’ve heard so many females say, ‘Valentine’s Day is MY day.  If he ain’t get me nothing…ooh!’  Really?  And all he gets is some, hopefully, bomb sex?  Which I’m sure he doesn’t mind but do you females ever feel a little slutty accepting gifts in exchange for pleasuring him?  Come on!  If you’re going to celebrate it then step it up!  You have to get this man something!  A REAL man will appreciate the gesture and totally love you more for it.  If he just wants sex, you may want to eer-umm..*cough* think about it.

I urge you guys to visit the following website and read up on the history of Valentine’s Day.  It’s quite interesting.  http://www.history.com/content/valentine/history-of-valentine-s-day

So what do I say to the game or her?  In my case, I’d be sitting on the couch right beside him yelling at the tv and chowing down on chicken wings.  But that’s just the type of woman that I am.  For those of you who have women that could care less about any sport…I suggest going to dinner on Friday or Saturday night instead of on Valentine’s Day.  If she’s a real stickler for celebrating on the actual day, then take her out to brunch.  I absolutely heart brunches!  They give a more intimate feel and you can order pancakes or crab cakes off of the same menu.  And don’t forget mimosas!  🙂  Whatever you do…don’t hide the fact that you want to watch the game.  Make arrangements so that you both get what you want.

On that note…here’s the line up for the NBA All-Star 2010 Weekend being held in Dallas, TX this year:

Friday, Feb. 12–Rookie Challenge (American Airlines Center)

Saturday, Feb. 13–Slam Dunk Contest, Three-Point Shootout Contest, Skills Challenge and Shooting Stars (American Airlines Center)
